In this class, Christine will talk to you all about what you need to know before your first Kundalini yoga class. Kundalini, and yoga in general, is actually fairly new to the western world. As such, there are quite a bit of misconceptions about what it is and how it works. This class gives you the background on Kundalini and dissolves any confusion a new practitioner may have about trying this wonderful form of yoga

Kundalini is a wonderful practice for beginners and experienced yogis alike Kundalini is known as the yoga of awareness, and doesn't require previous knowledge of poses or gymnast level flexibility. It is very different from other forms of yoga, and as such is a wonderful addition for those who already have a strong yoga practice in other disciplines. Expect to break a sweat, though, and to feel very relaxed afterwards! In class, we move, stretch, and breathe deeply in preparation for a closing meditation. Classes often involve healing mantras from the ancient texts associated with Kundalini yoga. These have a centering effect on the mind and make it easier to enter a meditative state. Kundalini has a long history as a practice, originating in the Upanishads in India in 500 BC. It gently challenges the mind and body to open, increasing intuition, and mind-body awareness.
